Nel 1988 a Melpignano, un piccolo paesino del Salento, avviene un evento storico: per la prima volta delle rock-band sovietiche si esibiscono oltrecortina. Nel Marzo 1989 saranno alcune band italiane, tra le quali i CCCP - Fedeli alla linea, ad esibirsi in Unione Sovietica. L'incredibile storia del tour che riuscì a creare un ponte tra due mondi divisi, attraverso un linguaggio che non ha bisogno di interpreti: la musica.

Andrea Paco Mariani si avvicina al mondo del cinema nel 2008, durante un periodo di studio e ricerca a Sarajevo. sNel 2008 pubblica con Osservatorio Balcani-Caucaso un dossier legato alla scena musicale di Sarajevo, da cui verrà tratto il suo primo documentario lungometraggio La resistenza nascosta (2009). L'anno successivo è co-fondatore di SMK Factory, la casa di produzione di cui fa tutt’oggi parte e per la quale firma la regia di diversi documentari: tra questi Tomorrow's Land (2011), con Nicola Zambelli, Green Lies (2014) e The Harvest (2017). Nel 2013 co-fonda OpenDDB, la prima piattaforma VOD italiana dedicata al cinema indipendente.

Luigi d'Alife inizia la sua attività da filmmaker realizzando diversi reportage e instant-video su tematiche sociali. Implementa la sua attività approfondendo e appassionandosi alla questione curda ed a quella dei confini. A Settembre 2015 realizza lo short- doc Il massacro di Cizre (2015-16') che denuncia le gravissime violazioni dei diritti umani compiute dalla Turchia. Nel Maggio 2017 produce e auto-distribuisce il suo primo lungometraggio Binxet – Sotto il confine (2017). All’inizio del 2018 racconta il viaggio dei migranti che provano a lasciare l'Italia attraverso i valichi alpini. Il docu-reportage Il confine occidentale (2018) anticipa il suo secondo lungometraggio The Milky Way (2020) che realizza dopo essere entrato a far parte della casa di produzione indipendente SMK Factory.

In March 1989, some Italian bands, including CCCP - Fedeli alla linea, performed in the Soviet Union. The incredible story of the tour that managed to create a bridge between two divided worlds, through a language that needs no interpreters: music.

Andrea Paco Mariani approached the world of documentary cinema in 2008, during a period of study and research

in Sarajevo. In 2008 he published with Osservatorio Balcani-Caucaso a dossier related to Sarajevo's music scene, from which his first feature documentary film La resistenza nascosta (2009) was based. The following year he co-founded SMK Factory, the production company of which he is still a member and for which he directed several documentaries: among them Tomorrow's Land (2011), co-directed with Nicola Zambelli, Green Lies (2014) and The Harvest (2017). In 2013 he co-founded OpenDDB, the first Italian VOD platform dedicated to independent cinema.

Luigi d'Alife began his activity as a filmmaker by shooting several reportages and instant videos on social issues. He implements his activity by delving into and becoming passionate about the Kurdish issue and that of borders. In September 2015, he made the short-doc The Cizre Massacre (2015), which denounces the extremely serious human rights violations committed by Turkey. In May 2017, he produced and self-distributed his first feature film Binxet - Under the Border (2017). At the beginning of 2018, he tells the journey of migrants trying to leave Italy through the Alpine crossings. The docu-reportage The Western Border (2018) anticipates his second feature film The Milky Way (2020), which he made after joining the independent production company SMK Factory.
